Join CAI's Central Pennsylvania Regional Council for a series of educational programs on Resolving Disputes in Community Associations.
Session 1: Two Years In: Handling Disputes and Investigations by the State Attorney General
Act 17 of 2018 has been in effect for three years. What impact has it had on community associations in the Commonwealth? The legislation, sponsored by Representative Rosemary Brown, (R-Monroe), expanded the areas subject to investigation by the Pennsylvania Attorney General to include complaints about association meetings, quorums, voting/proxies and non-financial association records. The Act also requires a complaint to go through alternate dispute resolution if such a process exists in a community association. A representative from the Attorney General's office will present statistical information on complaints filed under the Act, discuss what the AG’s Office does when a complaint is received, and take your questions.
Presenter: Jesse F. Harvey, Chief Deputy Attorney General-Western Regional Office, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General
Session 2: Alternate Dispute Resolution
Do you really have to sue, or can you avoid the courthouse by engaging in a different way to resolve your disputes? This session will provide time tested dispute resolution tips, an explanation of the different types of ADR, and why ADR should be part of every community's dispute resolution processes.
