2021 Poconos Staff Training Symposium

Join the Poconos Council for the 2021 Virtual Association Staff Training Symposium. This event is intended to provide an educational experience for community association managers and other association staff types including public safety, administrative, recreation, etc. While the focus of the program is on large scale communities in the Poconos, the virtual event will benefit all association stakeholders.

Do you want to be a leader that inspires excellence?  Do you want to elevate others to excel? The most meaningful way a leader can ensure their team understands the culture and desires of the Associations mission is to work a shared vision with others to propel them into practice.  We will explore how to empower your employees so they will act as the leaders you need them to be.

Session 1: Preparing for Summer Recreation: A Case Study in Pandemic Procedures

Preparing your amenities and summer recreation programs for opening amid continuing Covid-19 restrictions will once again prove to be a challenge. This session will be a case study on how Hemlock Farms Community Association safely opened and operated amenities and summer recreation during the Summer of 2020 and will present lessons learned and strategies on how your community can do the same as the global pandemic begins to wane.

Session 2: HR: Preparing for a Post Covid Workplace
This timely session will review changes in employee law and practices since the onset of the pandemic, and will include best practices for employees who are now working from home. Topics include:
  • Preparing for a post COVID-19 workplace (including OSHA compliance, temperature taking, on-going safety concerns and considerations)
  • Employer considerations for remote and alternative work arrangements
  • What employers need to know about Flu shots and COVID-19 vaccinations
  • Assumption of risk and waiver of liability relating to COVID-19
  • Current status (at the time of the presentation) of COVID-19 related laws, such as the FFCRA and CARES Act.

11:00 to 12:00 AM Closing Session: Preparing for an Active Shooter

"It won't happen here." How many times have you heard this from survivors on the news? Fact is, it very well may happen here, so it makes sense to be prepared. This training session will provide you with the knowledge and skills to ensure survival and minimize the loss of life in the event of an aggressive intruder. This session will empower your staff to participate in their own survival and lead others to safety.
